How Language Models Work
Large language models are trained on enormous datasets of text. They learn statistical patterns and use those patterns to generate text that sounds fluent and coherent. They do not "know" things the way humans do; they predict what text should come next based on patterns.
AI sounds equally confident whether it is accurate or completely fabricated. Confidence is not a signal of accuracy. This is why you cannot use fluency or tone to evaluate AI-generated content.
