What Is Generative AI?

Generative AI is a type of AI that creates new content — text, images, music, or video — based on patterns it learned from huge amounts of existing content. ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Midjourney are examples.

How Text AI Works

Large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT are trained on billions of text examples. They learn to predict what word should come next in a sequence. This makes them very good at generating fluent, coherent text — but they do not actually "understand" what they are writing.

Why AI Can Be Wrong

Because AI generates text by predicting likely word sequences rather than by understanding facts, it can produce confident-sounding but completely false information. It does not know what it does not know.

AI Does Not Know It Is Wrong

Unlike a human who might say "I'm not sure," AI often presents false information with the same confident tone as true information. This makes it especially important to verify AI-generated content.
